What is an eBay catalogue item?

When you are listing your product to eBay you are creating a brand new product listing every time. This means you need to add your own product information, description and images so customers know what they are buying. Recently eBay have in introduced ‘Catalogue items’ which are specific products which eBay themselves have kept a description and standardised image. You can then link this catalogue information to your product using the Barcode.

The advantage is if you are listing a product which is on the eBay catalogue you don’t need to add a personalised description if you don’t want to, nor do you need to add an image. If your product is not listed in the eBay catalogue you will need to include a description and image as you normally would.
